Wangaratta Wheeled Activity Strategy

Current

The purpose of this project is to develop and deliver a 10 year Wheeled Activity Strategy to support the needs of cycling and other wheeled activities in the Rural City of Wangaratta. An analysis of the infrastructure requirements for the progression of sport cycling and wheeled activities is needed, including how assets can be maximised through careful management, and how these spaces can be activated to ensure high community participation.

This strategy will primarily look at facility planning and activation, rather than development of recreational paths.

The broad plan will include the key focus areas of:

  • Review of existing wheeled activity infrastructure, and alignment to community need and trends
  • Identification of infrastructure needs to cater for cycling for sport and active recreation, including the identification of infrastructure required for mountain biking
  • Identification of infrastructure needs to cater for other in-demand wheeled activities, such as organised and recreational skateboarding and scooting
  • Feasibility of sites for future wheeled activity developments
  • Recommendations for activation of existing and future developments.
