Kangaroo Island Three Town Walks

Trails

The overarching intent of the project was to rapidly grow interstate visitation and yield on Kangaroo Island.

Tredwell Management worked with the Kangaroo Island Tourism Alliance to develop three town walks that are ‘must do’ tourism products. Each walk already existed as a basic trail but needed to be constructed in terms of a single trail with clear signage and interpretation that builds the visitor expenditure for local shops, galleries, attractions, and hospitality offerings as well as accommodation.

The project involved delivering contemporary interpretation planning through to installation for three town walks. The project will result in multiple outputs that overall:

  • Increase yield and jobs in each local town.
  • Seek to increase the Island’s Brand elements around our environment, heritage/ history/ art and Island character
  • Increases the capacity of our nature/ wildlife to be a drawcard for domestic (Interstate) visitors to Kangaroo Island

A key component of this project included preparing a visitor experience and interpretation plan (VEP) to make the walks widely appealing to visitors; include ‘must do’ activities with ‘instagrammable’ options that drive social media awareness; and, make the walks an essential addition in all visitor’s itineraries. The VEP will build the richer and deeper digital storytelling content to allow each of these trails to be well marketed to visitors before and during their stay.

Effektiver was contracted by Tredwell Management to develop the Visitor Experience and Interpretation Plan, with input from Protected Places Resources.

Design, manufacture and installation of the signage was completed by Armsign Pty Ltd.
