Meelup Regional Park Trails Master Plan
Trails
The Trails Master Plan was developed to address concerns regarding increased visitor numbers and potential environmental and social impacts of unmanaged trail use.
The aim is to provide a quality recreation experience for trail users whilst preventing environmental impacts associated with inappropriate trail use.
The Plan:
- provides a clear outline of existing trails in the Park, their purpose and current issues
- proposes new trails, identifies closures, realignments and upgrades where considered appropriate
Current Park policy seeks to minimise the creation of new trail development, primarily to protect against excessive fragmentation of the Park. The Plan recommends that a similar approach to trail development is continued, minimising incursion of new trails into currently ‘in-tact’ areas of the Park, alongside the closure of existing trails and tracks where appropriate.
The Plan recommends a short section of new trail, providing an important strategic link connecting the existing mountain bike area and Meelup Beach.
