Gannawarra Shire Council Walking and Cycling Strategy
Trails
The Gannawarra Walking and Cycling Strategy is a Shire wide strategy developed to drive coordinated and targeted future investment in active transport, trail recreation and tourism opportunities within the Gannawarra Shire Council. The Walking and Cycling Strategy proposes walking and cycling trail developments, connections and extensions that enhance the way people move around the Shire, townships and communities, whilst attracting tourists and locals to explore the region’s unique natural offerings.
The Strategy makes recommendations based on detailed background research, including the assessment of relevant council plans/strategies, sport and recreation participation data, global and national sport and recreation trends, tourism and visitor economy statistics, benefits of walking and cycling, and an audit of all existing walking and cycling trails and infrastructure across the Shire. Also, Community and key stakeholder consultation played a large role in the development of the Strategy.
This research has led to the development of a highly-considered and community driven Walking and Cycling Strategy.
