Dan Ames
Immediately drawn in by the all-pervading sporting and active lifestyle culture of Australia, ‘new arrival’ Dan Ames couldn’t believe his luck when an opportunity arose to work in the sport, recreation and open space arena. More than 5 years on, now sporting dual citizenship, and with 50+ projects under his belt, he still can’t quite believe it (but rest assured he is doing his very best to forge ahead).
With an academic and professional background in landscape architecture, and a sort-of semi-professional career as a footballer (now retired…mostly), Dan applies his strategic analytical and design skills (developed over 15 years on three different continents) and intuitive knowledge of sport and recreation (developed over half a life time ‘in the game’) to the wide and varied project workload at Tredwell, quite literally taking him across the length and breadth of Australia.
A firm and ardent believer in enabling everyone the opportunity to get involved in sport and recreation activities, Dan strives to deliver outcomes that benefit all members of the community, continually seeking to strike a balance between individual requirements, association/club/organised group aspirations and the critical needs of the broader community, with social, cultural, environmental and economic considerations at the forefront of his decision making.
As Senior Consultant, Dan’s responsibilities include managing projects from inception through to completion, client contact, community and stakeholder engagement, and taking a lead role in strategic planning, design aspects and graphic communication of all our projects. Dan’s work is underpinned by a strong understanding of the issues encompassing strategic planning, landscape architecture, open space and urban design, master planning, heritage and conservation, landscape and visual impact assessment.
