Tredwell Management have been working with the Department for Environment and Water in South Australia to develop the Concept Plan for a new, iconic, multi-day hiking experience in the Southern Flinders Ranges, taking hikers through rugged gorges and up on to vantage points with spectacular views across the Spencer Gulf. The project reflects the growing demand for immersive, nature-based walking experiences in South Australia, across Australia and internationally.
Preparation of the Gorges Walk Concept Plan has brought together Tredwell’s diversity of skills and experiences which have been refined over hundreds of trail planning projects across Australia, as well as the team’s sense of adventure and appreciation for the Southern Flinders Ranges.
The project is part of the $10 million Southern Flinders Precinct and will contribute the development of the region as a world-class adventure tourism destination. It is a key project as part of the Parks 2025 strategy to reinvigorate regional communities and enhance South Australia’s place as a world-class eco-tourism destination.
The investment is part of a jointly-funded Australian Government and State Government initiative secured through the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.
The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, Regional Development Australia Yorke & Mid North, Northern Areas Council, District Council of Mount Remarkable, Port Pirie Regional Council and the Nukunu Traditional Owners are foundation project partners, securing the collaborative funding for the project through the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
Construction is expected to commence on the Gorges Walks in September and be complete by December 2022.
