The West Wimmera Sport & Recreation Strategy aims to build strong and engaged communities where diversity, participation and healthy lifestyles are encouraged and valued.
This Strategy provided direction for sport and active recreation in the West Wimmera Shire, providing places where residents and visitors are encouraged and drawn to participate in sport and active recreation activities. The Strategy focuses on encouraging participation from the whole community including all ages, genders, abilities, and backgrounds.
The key outcomes of this Strategy include:
- A summary of community engagement activities and outcomes undertaken during the development of the Strategy
- A facility inventory of sport and active recreation assets and facilities in the Shire, including location and ownership/management
- A set of principles that guide investment and direction of sport and active recreation in the Shire over the next 10 years
- An activation plan to maximise the participation and programming outcomes from the network of existing and proposed community and active sport and active recreation infrastructure
- A list of infrastructure projects priorities for the next 10 year with indicative costs and proposed key stakeholders who will take a partnership-based approach to deliver the projects.
