West Beach Parks Sport and Recreation Master Plan
Master Planning
The West Beach Parks Sport and Recreation Master Plan provides a long-term framework to guide the renewal and development of one of Adelaide’s premier sporting precincts. Supporting a diverse range of sports—including soccer, lacrosse, tennis, netball, baseball, dog club and community recreation—the precinct plays a vital role in hosting local participation and major events.
Building on previous planning and recent site-wide master planning, the project focuses on revitalising the Sport and Recreation Zone (Zone 5), which has not seen significant upgrades in recent years. The Master Plan responds to the need for improved facilities, better connectivity, and enhanced user experiences across the precinct.
Informed by community and stakeholder consultation, the plan establishes a vision for a vibrant, accessible, and connected destination. Key priorities include improved pedestrian movement, activation of play spaces, enhanced public realm, integration of diverse land uses, and opportunities for year-round programming. The plan also considers site-specific constraints such as airport height limitations and surrounding infrastructure.
The final outcome is a cohesive concept plan that provides a clear and actionable roadmap for future investment over the next 10–20 years. It ensures the precinct continues to evolve as a high-quality, multi-functional destination that supports sport, recreation, and community life.
