Current, Sport, Recreation & Open Space Planning

The purpose of the Project is to develop a Business Plan for the Tinana Sport and Recreation Reserve which will provide direction and guidance to Council on the implementation of the Concept Plan developed by the sporting groups and operational requirements of the facility should the development occur.

The Proposed Development Plan (January 2018) was undertaken to:

a) Determine the needs per user group (with a focus on the athletics, football and hockey clubs)
b) Identify gaps in terms of facility provision
c) Determine the priority issues from a facility/ infrastructure perspective
d) Prepare a Proposed Development Plan (including site layout and indicative budget)
e) Determine appropriate funding opportunities

Issues identified in the Plan (and previous reviews of the reserve)

  • Lack of satisfactory car parking
  • Difficult vehicle access and egress
  • Ad hoc and excessive building development over site
  • Co-sharing of buildings and field space
  • Insufficient sports field lighting
  • Poor quality and misconfigured playing surfaces
