Feasibility study for a Purpose Built Regional Cycling Facility in the Rockingham, Kwinana and Peel Region
Feasibility & Needs Assessment
A broad desktop analysis, site inspections and consultation with landowners/managers assisted in the identification of a series of sites suitable for investigation. The analysis concluded that all of the sites investigated have the potential to be designed or adapted to cater for some form of regional/district cycling venue including a criterium track and associated facilities.
The following recommendations were put to the Steering Group for endorsement:
- That the identified need for a regional cycling facility including a criterium track and associated amenities is endorsed
- The use of the Motorplex at Kwinana continues while the ongoing planning and site selection process continues.
- That further ongoing analysis and assessment of the candidate sites be conducted in conjunction with the land owners/managers pending the outcomes of the State-wide Cycling Facility Plan
- That the Cycling Club form an auspice group to guide the development of cycling sports locally to assist in building support needed to justify a future regional facility.
