Master Planning, Sport, Recreation & Open Space Planning
The final Master Plan positions Nhulunbuy as the regional hub for East Arnhem Land and provides a ten-year vision and action plan for recreation and open spaces. Priority projects in the master plan were illustrated in sketch design.
The plan specifically addresses:
• Current/future sporting & recreation needs
• Usage strategies and strategic master planning for recreation open spaces
• The role of the Nhulunbuy Corporation and other stakeholders
• Suitable models for capital contributions from community groups towards facility improvements
• Tenancy models that reflect equitable maintenance responsibilities & cost recovery principles
• The need for flexibility and adaptability to changing demographics and community needs
