The primary goal of this trail audit is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current offerings to both the community and visitors in terms of trail infrastructure and functionality in the Shire of Capel.

By undertaking this audit, the Shire aims to identify immediate safety concerns and address them promptly. Furthermore, the audit will inform strategic planning initiatives, enabling the integration of necessary capital works into the Shire’s overarching strategic documents, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability and enhancement of their trail network.

A significant component of the project will be the on-ground audit and assessment of existing trails. This process will identify and verify the existing condition of the trail surface, signage and infrastructure along with the hazards, missing signage, amenities and provide recommendations. This assessment will also allow a deeper  understanding of the existing trail experiences offered, and the opportunities available.
