The Camden Playspace Strategy 2025–2036 provides a comprehensive, evidence-based framework to guide the planning, development, and renewal of playspaces across one of Australia’s fastest growing local government areas. Responding to rapid population growth and evolving community expectations, the strategy focuses on delivering inclusive, high-quality play opportunities that support all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Informed by detailed demographic analysis, asset audits, and community engagement, the strategy identifies key gaps in the existing network, particularly in accessibility, diversity of play experiences, and provision for early years and older youth. A district-based approach—covering Established, Growth, and Rural areas—enables targeted planning and prioritisation, ensuring investment aligns with local needs and future growth patterns.
The strategy is underpinned by a clear vision and six strategic objectives focused on inclusiveness, quality, connectivity, sustainability, and future-proofing. A prioritised ten-year Capital Works Program outlines upgrades, renewals, and new playspaces, supported by a robust scoring framework to guide investment decisions.
Together, the strategy provides a clear and actionable roadmap to enhance Camden’s playspace network, improve equity of access, and support healthy, active, and connected communities into the future.
